Single-Port Surface-Mount Box

The Tripp Lite N082-001-WH is a white surface-mount box designed to hold a single keystone jack. It suits installers adding a connection point for audio, video, voice or Ethernet data where in-wall cabling is not practical. The unit accepts any keystone type including HDMI, Cat5/6, USB and DisplayPort. Mounting hardware and double-sided tape are included for flexible placement.

Flame-Resistant ABS Construction

The enclosure uses ABS plastic rated UL94V-0 for flame resistance, intended to withstand long-term use in visible locations. This material choice replaces standard plastics that may not meet the same safety classification for surface-mounted installations. The rear cable entry allows the box to sit flush against a wall or ceiling, improving the finish compared with boxes that route cables from the side.

Sustained Installation Reliability

Under continuous environmental exposure the UL94V-0 rated ABS maintains its structural integrity and colour stability. The flush-mount design protects the rear cable entry from accidental snags that could stress terminations over time. The supplied tape and screws provide redundant fixation so the box remains secure even if one method degrades. The product is not suited for installations requiring multiple ports in a single gang space.

Questions about this item

What wall opening or cut-out does the N082-001-WH surface-mount box require?

The box mounts flat against the wall or ceiling with no cut-out needed; cabling routes through a rear slot so the unit sits flush on the surface.

Which mounting method should I use — screws or the supplied double-sided tape — and what is the common mistake?

Both screws and double-sided tape are included; the frequent error is applying tape to a dusty or painted surface without cleaning it first, causing the box to detach later.

Will the white ABS housing yellow or degrade over time, and does the keystone jack itself need periodic replacement?

The flame-resistant ABS UL94V-0 material resists yellowing; the box is passive, so only the keystone jack you insert may need replacement if its contacts wear out.
