Hardened Copper-to-Fiber Converter

The Tripp Lite N784-H01-SCMM converts a copper Ethernet signal to a multimode fiber optic signal, extending a network connection up to 2 km. It supports transfer rates of 10 Mbps and 100 Mbps over SC duplex fiber. The unit operates across a temperature range of -10 to 60 °C, making it suitable for industrial or outdoor environments where standard switches cannot survive. Compliance with IEEE 802.3 and 802.3u ensures compatibility with existing Fast Ethernet infrastructure.

Industrial Mounting and Status LEDs

A rugged metal enclosure measures 0.92 x 2.91 x 4.30 inches and weighs 0.53 lb. The package includes an L-shaped bracket, DIN rail kit and wall-mounting hardware for flexible installation in cabinets or on machinery frames. Six front-panel LEDs display power, link fault status, fiber and copper speed at 100 Mbps, and link activity on both ports. An external 12V 1.5A power supply with a NEMA 1-15P plug accepts 100-240V input for global use.

Extends Legacy Fast Ethernet Beyond 100 m

This converter replaces a direct copper run when the distance between two devices exceeds the 100 m limit of Cat5e or Cat6 cabling. It bridges two network segments over multimode fiber at 1310 nm wavelength without requiring a managed switch or SFP module. The jump is worth it for camera feeds, building-to-building links or factory floor connections that need 2 km reach at 10/100 Mbps. It does not serve applications that require Gigabit throughput or single-mode fiber distances.
