Metered 0U PDU for rack power monitoring

The Tripp Lite PDUMV20-36 is a metered power distribution unit designed for 120 V single-phase environments. It provides fourteen NEMA 5-15/20R outlets in a vertical 0U form factor that mounts alongside rack equipment. A built-in digital ammeter displays the combined output current in amps for real-time load tracking. The unit accepts 100 V, 120 V or 127 V input through a NEMA L5-20P plug on a fifteen-foot cord.

Passive cooling with certified safety limits

The vertical metal chassis relies on natural convection, so it adds no fan noise to the rack. Agency de-rating limits continuous draw to sixteen amps while the internal breaker trips at twenty amps for overload protection. Certifications include UL 60950-1 for the USA, UL/CSA 60950-1 for Canada, NOM for Mexico and FCC Class A for emissions. The RoHS-compliant assembly operates at 50/60 Hz without active thermal management.

Fixed-input cord and front-facing outlets

The attached NEMA L5-20P input cord is fifteen feet long and cannot be replaced with a different plug type. Fourteen front-facing NEMA 5-15/20R receptacles accept both straight-blade and locking equipment cords. The 36-inch height fits standard 0U vertical channels, while the 1.75-inch width and 1.25-inch depth keep the profile narrow. At 3.20 lbs the unit adds minimal weight to the rack. Builders needing a detachable input cord or higher voltage distribution will need a different model.

Questions about this item

How do I mount the 36-inch 0U vertical PDU in a rack, and what step is often missed?

Use the integrated mounting brackets to secure the 36.00" tall unit vertically along a rack post; the step often missed is confirming the 1.75" width and 1.25" depth clearances so adjacent equipment does not block the 14 NEMA 5-15/20R outlets.

What maintenance or replacement will the digital ammeter and overload protection need over time?

The two-digit LED meter and the 20A circuit breaker are sealed components; no user-serviceable parts exist, so if the meter drifts or the breaker trips repeatedly under a 16A continuous load, the entire PDU must be replaced.

At what load does the 20A-rated PDU hit its continuous-use limit first?

Agency de-rating sets the continuous limit at 16A; sustained loads above 16A will trip the 20A overload breaker even though the input plug and cord are rated for 20A maximum.
