Swivel Outlet Design

The Tripp Lite SWIVEL6 is a direct plug-in surge suppressor that converts a single wall receptacle into six NEMA 5-15R outlets. Each outlet rotates to accommodate bulky power adapters without blocking adjacent sockets. It is suited for home offices or entertainment centres where multiple devices need protection from voltage spikes.

Protection Rating and Noise Filter

The unit absorbs up to 1500 joules of surge energy and clamps excess voltage at 330 volts across hot-neutral, neutral-ground and hot-ground modes. An EMI/RFI filter attenuates line noise by up to 20 dB to maintain clean power for sensitive electronics. Diagnostic LEDs indicate active protection and warn of wiring faults before equipment is damaged.

Joule Rating Decides Suitability

The 1500 joule rating determines how much surge energy the device can handle over its lifetime. Buyers protecting high-value workstations or gaming rigs may require a higher capacity suppressor for sustained defence. The direct plug-in form factor also limits placement to wall outlets without a cord.

Questions about this item

How do I plug the SWIVEL6 into a wall outlet without blocking the second socket?

The direct plug-in design inserts into one NEMA 5-15R receptacle and leaves the adjacent outlet free for other devices.

Will the surge protection components need replacement after absorbing hits?

The 1500 joule rating represents total absorption capacity; once depleted the unit no longer suppresses surges and should be replaced.

What happens if the clamping voltage is exceeded during a prolonged surge event?

The 330 volt clamping level limits voltage passed to connected equipment, but sustained over-voltage can exhaust the 1500 joule capacity.
