Six-outlet surge protector with two USB-A ports sharing 2.4 amps, 990-joule suppression, 10-foot cord and antimicrobial housing
The Tripp Lite TLP610BUAM provides six NEMA 5-15R outlets and two USB-A ports that share 2.4 amps of charging power. A 10-foot 14-gauge SJT cord with a straight NEMA 5-15P plug reaches distant wall sockets. The unit suppresses surges across line-neutral, line-ground and neutral-ground paths with a 990-joule rating and filters EMI/RFI noise. An antimicrobial coating on the housing helps reduce surface bacteria in shared workspaces.
This model upgrades a plain strip by adding 990 joules of surge suppression, a 15-amp resettable circuit breaker and two integrated USB charging ports. The jump is worth it when protecting computers, monitors or networking gear from transient spikes and when USB charging convenience is needed at the desk. It is not for buyers who need coaxial or Ethernet line protection, higher joule ratings for whole-room coverage, or USB-C Power Delivery for modern laptops.
Connect the 10-foot cord to a grounded 120-volt 15-amp branch circuit, press the illuminated combo switch to energise the outlets, then plug in equipment. The single row of six outlets accommodates two transformer blocks without blocking adjacent sockets. Common issues include exceeding the 1875-watt total load, which trips the breaker, and expecting faster USB charging than the shared 2.4-amp limit allows. Ensure the wall receptacle is properly grounded for full surge protection.

The 10 ft SJT 14-gauge cord ends in a straight NEMA 5-15P plug, so allow at least 50 mm behind the unit for the plug body and cable bend radius.
Many forget to press the illuminated 15 A combo switch fully until it latches; the circuit breaker stays tripped until the switch clicks into the on position.
Replace the unit once the 990 joule MOV array has absorbed a large surge — the protection indicator will go dark when the components are spent.
