What this cable does

This USB-C to USB-C cable carries Thunderbolt 3 signals and delivers up to 60W of power. It connects laptops, phones, docking stations or power banks that have a USB-C or Thunderbolt 3 port. The right-angle plug keeps the cable close to the device in tight spaces.

Data speed limit

The cable runs at USB 2.0 rates, so data transfers top out at 480 Mbps. It will not reach the higher throughput of USB 3.1 or USB 3.2 links. Buyers who need faster file copies should choose a cable rated for those speeds.

Installing the cable

Reversible plugs go in either way up, so there is no wrong orientation. The right-angle connector fits behind monitors or inside crowded bags without bending the jacket. The only common issue is expecting Thunderbolt 3 data rates when the wire only carries USB 2.0 data.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 1 m length or a longer cable?

The 1 m cable keeps the desk tidy and meets the 60 W Power Delivery rating; longer cables are not offered in this model.

What does the 60 W rating mean when I plug this into my laptop?

It delivers up to 20 V at 3 A so most ultrabooks and tablets charge at full speed while you work.

The cable is labelled Thunderbolt 3 — what speed does that actually give me?

Data moves at USB 2.0 rates up to 480 Mbps; the Thunderbolt 3 label only guarantees compatibility with those ports.
