USB-C to USB-C 2.0 cable for charging and syncing

This three-metre cable connects two USB-C devices such as a laptop to a docking station, a smartphone to a wall charger, or a hard drive to a computer. It works with any device that has a USB-C or Thunderbolt 3 port, including MacBooks, Ultrabooks and Chromebooks. Reversible connectors plug in either direction for a fumble-free connection. The cable is backward compatible with earlier USB generations.

100 W Power Delivery with 480 Mbps data limit

The cable delivers up to 5 A (100 W) for fast charging and powering large-capacity devices like a MacBook Pro. Data transfers run at USB 2.0 speeds up to 480 Mbps, which is adequate for documents, photos and backups but will feel slow for very large video files or full drive images. Buyers who need 5 Gbps or 10 Gbps transfer rates should choose a USB 3.x or Thunderbolt cable instead.

USB-IF certified for compliance and safety

Certification means the cable has passed the USB Implementers Forum’s electrical, mechanical and interoperability tests, reducing the risk of damage to ports or connected equipment. It does not add extra features such as video output or alternate modes beyond the USB 2.0 and Power Delivery specifications already listed. Buyers who require DisplayPort Alt Mode or Thunderbolt data tunnelling will need a different cable.

Questions about this item

Will this cable charge a MacBook Pro at full speed while connected to an older USB-A dock via an adapter?

The cable delivers up to 100W Power Delivery and supports USB 2.0 data at 480 Mbps, so it can fast-charge a MacBook Pro when the power source and adapter also support 100W PD.

How can I verify the cable is providing the rated 100W charge after plugging it in?

Check the charging wattage reported by the laptop or phone OS, or use a USB-C power meter inline; a reading near 100W confirms the cable is operating at its rated Power Delivery capacity.

Does the 9.8ft black cable ship with any adapters, or must I buy a USB-C power brick separately?

Only the USB-C to USB-C cable is included; a compatible USB-C Power Delivery charger or power bank must be purchased separately to achieve up to 100W charging.
