Cable purpose and audience

The Tripp Lite U420-C06 is a six-foot USB-C to USB-C cable designed for users who need to link two USB-C or Thunderbolt 3 devices. It suits laptop owners connecting to docks, phone users attaching to chargers, and anyone moving data between drives and tablets.

Upgrade context

It replaces slower USB 2.0 cables by delivering USB 3.1 Gen 1 speeds up to 5 Gbps, roughly ten times faster for file transfers. The jump is worthwhile when moving large media libraries or backing up external storage where the older bottleneck is noticeable.

Build fit

Reversible male connectors plug in either orientation for fumble-free insertion. The cable handles up to 3 amps and 60 watts of Power Delivery, so it charges laptops and phones while simultaneously moving data, freeing you from carrying separate charge and sync leads.

Questions about this item

What devices can I connect with the 6 ft USB-C to USB-C cable?

The cable connects any two USB-C or Thunderbolt 3 devices such as a laptop to a docking station, a smartphone to a wall charger, or a hard drive to a computer.

How do I plug the reversible USB-C connectors in correctly?

The male USB-C connectors are reversible, so they insert in either orientation; the step people miss is forcing the connector instead of letting it seat smoothly.

Will the cable still deliver 60 watts of power after extended use?

The cable is USB-IF certified and rated for 3 amps at 60 watts, so it maintains that power delivery as long as the connectors and cable jacket remain undamaged.
