Precision chain sprocket for 40-series drives

The Tritan 40BS14H is a finished-bore steel sprocket with a 7/8 in bore, 14 teeth and a 2.247 in pitch diameter designed for single-strand 40 chain. It suits maintenance teams and OEM builders who need a direct replacement on existing shafting.

Verify bore, keyway and chain compatibility

Confirm the shaft measures exactly 7/8 in and provides a 3/16 in wide by 3/32 in deep keyway slot. Ensure the drive uses single-strand 40 chain with a 1/2 in pitch and that the 2.49 in outside diameter clears adjacent guards or structure.

Set screws and keyway lock rotation

Two included set screws and the machined keyway prevent angular slip on the shaft. The black oxide finish adds corrosion resistance for indoor or sheltered outdoor installations.

Questions about this item

Does the 40BS14H sprocket come with the 3/16 in keyway and two set screws already installed, or do I need to buy them separately?

The sprocket includes a 3/16 in wide by 3/32 in deep keyway and two set screws in the box, so no separate purchase is required.

Should I choose the 14-tooth version or a different tooth count for my 40 chain drive?

The 14-tooth model gives a 2.247 in pitch diameter and 2.49 in outside diameter; select it when those dimensions match your speed-ratio and clearance requirements.

What does the 2.247 in pitch diameter mean once the sprocket is mounted on a 7/8 in shaft?

It defines the effective radius where the 1/2 in pitch chain engages, determining the drive ratio and chain wrap on the 14 teeth.
