A finished-bore steel sprocket with a 3/4 in bore, keyway and two set screws for 40 chain
The Tritan 40BS40 is a finished-bore steel sprocket built for single-strand 40 chain with a 1/2 in pitch. It carries 40 teeth and a 3/4 in bore with a 3/16 in by 3/32 in keyway, plus two set screws for a fixed, non-slip fit on the shaft.
Swapping to this unit restores correct pitch engagement when the old sprocket shows tooth hooking or bore wear. The jump is worth it when the drive runs continuously and the black-oxide finish adds corrosion resistance that plain steel lacks.
The 3 1/2 in hub diameter and 0.841 in projection leave room for standard shaft spacing. The 1 1/8 in length through bore keeps the assembly compact while the fixed bore type eliminates the need for a separate bushing.

The sprocket has a fixed 3/4 in bore, a 3/16 in wide keyway and a 3/32 in deep keyway. Two set screws are included to lock it on the shaft.
Slide the sprocket onto the shaft, align the key in the 3/16 in keyway, then tighten both set screws. The step often missed is tightening the second set screw after the first.
Replace the sprocket when the 40 teeth show hooking or the 6.65 in outside diameter wears below the chain pitch. Regular lubrication of the 1/2 in pitch chain extends life.
