Industrial Chain Drive Component

The Tritan 50BS18H is a finished-bore steel sprocket engineered for single-strand 50 chain drives. Its 18-tooth profile and 5/8 inch fixed bore with keyway suit power-transmission builds on conveyors, packaging lines and agricultural equipment.

Sustained Load Behaviour

Black oxide finish resists corrosion during continuous operation while the hardened steel teeth maintain pitch integrity under cyclic tension. Two set screws lock the hub to the shaft, preventing axial drift when the drive runs for extended shifts at rated speed.

Upgrade Context

This sprocket replaces worn 18-tooth 50-chain units where bore wear or tooth hooking has introduced vibration. The jump is justified when inspection shows elongation past the 3.599 inch pitch diameter or when a keyed 5/8 inch shaft demands the 3/16 inch keyway width.

Questions about this item

How much heat or noise does the 50BS18H sprocket generate when running continuously?

The steel sprocket itself produces no heat or noise; any sound or temperature rise comes from the chain and bearings it engages with.

What shaft size and key does the 5/8 in bore with 3/16 in keyway require?

It fits a 5/8 in diameter shaft and uses a standard 3/16 in wide by 3/32 in deep keyway with two set screws included.

Will this 18-tooth, 50-chain sprocket mesh with my existing 50-series roller chain?

Yes, it is cut for 5/8 in pitch, single-strand 50 chain, so it meshes directly with any standard 50-series roller chain you already run.
