2-1/2 Inch Backset Fit

The single specification that decides compatibility is the 2-1/2" backset measurement. This distance from the door edge to the centre of the knob spindle must match the existing door preparation exactly. A different backset will prevent the lock case from aligning with the bore holes, making installation impossible without modifying the door.
