Purpose-built outdoor housing

The Tycon Systems ENC-ESP-100-POE is a weatherproof enclosure made for the TP-ESP-100-POE series of Ethernet surge suppressors. It lets installers mount protection close to antennas or radios on a tower or mast. The UV and impact resistant plastic body is rated NEMA 4X and IP65 for long-term outdoor exposure. Two CAT5/6 cable feed-throughs clamp the cables for strain relief and sealing.

Environmental and mounting limits

The enclosure operates from -50 to +85 °C and tolerates 0 to 100 % relative humidity. Its NEMA 4X and IP65 ratings mean it resists windblown dust, rain and hose-directed water, but it is not rated for submersion. Mounting options include wall or pole attachment using the integrated brackets. The two feed-throughs accept standard Ethernet cables and provide the only sealed entry points.

Upgrade from basic indoor placement

This unit replaces makeshift indoor boxes or unprotected pole mounts that leave surge suppressors exposed to moisture, temperature extremes and UV degradation. The jump is worth it when equipment sits on a tower, roof or mast where a sealed, grounded enclosure prevents water ingress and corrosion. It adds a dedicated external ground lug for proper bonding. Buyers who need multiple suppressor bays or integrated power distribution will need a larger cabinet.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the ENC-ESP-100-POE enclosure for a single TP-ESP-100-POE surge suppressor or do I need multiple enclosures?

One ENC-ESP-100-POE enclosure houses a single TP-ESP-100-POE series surge suppressor. It has two CAT5/6 cable feedthrus for that unit's input and output cables.

What does the IP65 and NEMA 4X rating mean when the enclosure is mounted on a tower or mast?

The IP65 and NEMA 4X ratings mean the enclosure is dust-tight and protected against water jets from any direction, suitable for permanent outdoor mounting on towers or masts.

How does the operating temperature range of -50°C to +85°C affect the surge suppressor inside?

The enclosure's UV and impact resistant plastic shell is rated from -50°C to +85°C, ensuring the housed TP-ESP-100-POE suppressor remains within its operating envelope in extreme climates.
