TY524M Cable Tie 5.5 in

The TY-RAP TY524M is a standard nylon cable tie designed for bundling wires and cables in electrical and industrial settings. It uses a stainless steel barb locking mechanism to secure the strap once tightened. The natural colour suits general-purpose identification needs.

1.14 in Maximum Bundle Diameter

This tie accommodates bundles up to 1.14 inches in diameter, which is the primary measure for selecting the correct length. The 5.5 inch actual length and 0.14 inch width combine to reach this capacity. Exceeding this diameter prevents the lock from engaging fully.

30 lb Tensile Strength and Temperature Range

Rated at 30 lb tensile strength, it handles light-to-medium wire bundles and conduit runs in dry, indoor environments. The operating range spans -40 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit, so it remains flexible in cold conditions and stable near heat sources. It is not rated for outdoor UV exposure or plenum spaces requiring flame-retardant materials.

Questions about this item

What does the 30 lb tensile strength mean once the tie is on a bundle?

It means the nylon strap can hold up to 30 pounds of pulling force before the stainless steel barb releases.

What does the UL Type 21 rating cap in practice?

It certifies the tie for plenum spaces and confirms the nylon 6/6 material meets the flame and smoke requirements for that environment.

What clearance does the 1.14 in maximum bundle diameter need to fit?

The tie wraps around bundles up to 1.14 inches in diameter and requires only the 0.14 inch strap width and 0.04 inch thickness to seat the barb.
