The UFINSTANT is a GPON customer-premises transceiver that presents a 1 Gbps SFP Ethernet handoff. It is designed for ISPs or integrators deploying ITU-T G.984 GPON services to single endpoints. The module operates at TX 1310 nm and RX 1490 nm over a single SC/APC fibre. It fits in standard SFP cages and draws 2 W.

Replaces separate ONT and media converter

This unit combines the GPON optical network terminal and the SFP uplink in one stick, removing the need for a standalone ONT plus a copper-to-fibre converter. The upgrade is worth it when you want to collapse CPE hardware, reduce power draw, and simplify rack or wall-mount space. It supports downstream 2488.32 Mbit/s and upstream 1244.16 Mbit/s line rates.

Plug into SFP cage and clean SC/APC connector

Installation is a matter of inserting the transceiver into a compatible SFP slot and connecting the SC/APC patch cord. The main issues are mismatched GPON provisioning on the OLT side and dirty or angled-polish connectors causing high return loss.
