48-port PoE+ rackmount switch

The Ubiquiti US-48-500W is a managed Layer 2 switch built for networks that need to power and connect dozens of devices from a single rack unit. It delivers 48 Gigabit RJ45 ports with PoE+ and 24V passive PoE, plus two 1G SFP and two 10G SFP+ uplink ports.

500W PoE budget with mixed voltage support

The internal 500W supply provides up to 500W of total PoE output while the switch itself draws only 64W without PoE load. Every RJ45 port supports both IEEE 802.3af/at and 24V passive PoE on separate pin pairs, allowing cameras, access points and legacy devices to share the same switch without injectors.

70 Gbps non-blocking throughput for aggregation

With 70 Gbps total non-blocking throughput and 140 Gbps switching capacity, the switch handles line-rate traffic across all 48 ports plus 10G uplinks. The jump is worth it when a smaller PoE switch runs out of ports or power budget and the network needs 10G uplinks to prevent congestion at the aggregation layer.

Questions about this item

What total non-blocking throughput does the 48-port switch provide?

The switch delivers 70 Gbps total non-blocking throughput with a 140 Gbps switching capacity and 104.16 Mpps forwarding rate.

What rack space and clearances does the US-48-500W require?

It fits a standard 19-inch rack at 1U height (43.7 mm) and measures 485 mm wide by 374.6 mm deep; weight is 6.1 kg.

How is the switch powered and where do installers commonly make a mistake?

It uses an internal 500 W AC supply (100–240 V, 50/60 Hz); the error is forgetting that PoE budget is shared across all 48 ports, so total draw must stay within 500 W.
