Compact Managed Switch

The Ubiquiti Networks USW-Flex-2.5G-8-PoE is a managed Layer 2 desktop switch with eight 2.5 GbE RJ45 ports and a 10 GbE RJ45/SFP+ uplink combination. It suits installers who need PoE++ output in tight enclosures or on poles while keeping the network manageable through UniFi Network 9.0.114 or later. The 4K MAC table and 256 VLANs handle segmentation for small to mid-size deployments.

PoE Input Flexibility

The unit accepts power from a 10 GbE PoE+++ uplink, a PoE++ or PoE+ source, or the optional AC adapter, passing budget downstream to connected devices. With PoE+++ input the switch makes 76 W available; PoE++ input yields 46 W; PoE+ input yields 16 W; the AC adapter raises total PoE availability to 196 W. Mounting accessories ship in the box for wall or pole installation.

Capacity and Headroom

Eight PoE++ ports deliver up to 64 W each for wireless APs, cameras or VoIP endpoints, while the 10 GbE uplink provides 45 Mpps forwarding for aggregation traffic. The 14 W to 17 W base draw (excluding PoE output) leaves headroom for the 210 W maximum including PoE. Builders needing more than eight downlink ports or 10 GbE downlink speeds will need a larger switch.

Questions about this item

Will the 8 PoE++ ports need any firmware updates or hardware servicing over time?

The switch runs UniFi Network 9.0.114 or later; firmware updates are delivered through the controller and no user-serviceable parts are inside the 212.9 × 99.4 × 33.5 mm enclosure.

What throughput limit appears first when all 8 ports run at 2.5 GbE continuously?

The packet forwarding rate caps at 45 Mpps, so sustained line-rate traffic on every 2.5 GbE port will hit that forwarding ceiling before the 10 GbE uplink saturates.

How much heat and fan noise should I expect when the switch draws 210 W including PoE output?

Max consumption is 210 W with PoE load; the unit is passively cooled, so it emits no fan noise and relies on the compact 8.4 × 3.9 × 1.3" metal case to dissipate heat.
