High-performance WiFi 7 client adapter with STR MLO for ultra-low latency, extended range and multi-gigabit speeds
The Ubiquiti UniFi AirWire is a high-performance WiFi 7 client adapter that uses STR MLO to create simultaneous full-duplex links. It targets users who need ultra-low latency and true multi-gigabit real-world speeds over a wireless connection. The device connects via a 5 GbE port using USB3.2 Gen2 and is managed through a USB-C interface with a 0.96" status display.
Practical throughput is limited by the available channel bandwidths of HT 20/40, VHT 20/40/80/160, HE 20/40/80/160 and EHT 20/40/80/160/240/320. The adapter operates on 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz frequency bands with a maximum data rate of 5.8 Gbps at BW320 on 6 GHz and 4.3 Gbps at BW240 on 5 GHz. Regulatory limits on transmit power and channel availability will affect real-world performance in any given location.
The adapter comfortably handles demanding workloads with supported data rates from 7.3 Mbps up to 5.8 Gbps across WiFi 7, WiFi 6 and WiFi 5 standards using 2x2 MIMO on both 6 GHz and 5 GHz bands. It draws up to 18W in hardware with USB PD power options of 15W in normal mode and 20W in performance mode. Buyers needing wired uplink redundancy or more than two spatial streams per band should consider alternative architectures.
Measured against everything we stock in Wi-Fi Cards & USB Adapters, at today’s prices. Recalculated every night.
| Connectivity | |
|---|---|
| Wireless speed | BW320 |
| Radio bands | 2.4 GHz / 5.8 GHz |
The adapter runs in Normal mode at 15W USB PD or Performance mode at 20W USB PD, both using 5/9/12V profiles.
That 5.8 Gbps peak uses 320 MHz channels and 2x2 MIMO; actual speeds depend on AP capability, channel width and interference.
The single 5 GbE port caps wired traffic at 5 Gbps, so multi-gigabit wireless links above that rate will be bottlenecked by the Ethernet link.
