UGREEN 5 Gbps USB-C Ethernet Adapter
This adapter adds a 5 Gbps wired network port to laptops and desktops that only have USB-C or Thunderbolt connectivity. It targets users who need faster-than-gigabit speeds for NAS transfers, video editing or large-file workflows. The aluminium housing includes integrated heat-dissipation holes to keep the Realtek RTL8157 chip stable under load.
Capacity and headroom: 5 Gbps throughput
At 5 Gbps the adapter delivers up to 400 percent more bandwidth than a standard gigabit link, comfortable for multi-gig internet plans and local 2.5 Gbps or 5 Gbps switches. Performance drops to lite mode automatically if thermal limits are reached, and the link will not reach 5 Gbps unless the host port supports USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10 Gbps), the router or switch is 5 Gbps capable and a CAT6 or better cable is used.
Upgrade path and when it matters
It replaces any 1 Gbps USB-C dongle when the network infrastructure already runs at 2.5 Gbps or 5 Gbps and the host has a 10 Gbps USB-C or Thunderbolt port. The jump is not worthwhile on gigabit-only networks, on hosts limited to USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5 Gbps) or on devices outside the supported Windows 11, macOS 15+ or Linux kernel 5.17 environments.

Questions about this item
Will the 5 Gbps adapter saturate my existing Gigabit switch or do I need a 2.5 Gbps or 5 Gbps switch to see any benefit?
The adapter negotiates down to 2.5 Gbps or 1 Gbps automatically, so it works with your current switch; you only need a 2.5 Gbps or 5 Gbps switch and a CAT6 or higher cable to reach the 5 Gbps ceiling.
How can I verify the RTL8157 chip is running at 5 Gbps after I plug it into a Thunderbolt 3 port on Windows 11?
Install the Realtek driver from the included guide, then check the adapter speed in Windows Network settings — it should read 5 Gbps when linked to a 5 Gbps switch with a CAT6 or better cable.
Does the 35921 package include a CAT6 cable or do I have to buy one separately to hit 5 Gbps?
The box contains only the 9.4 cm aluminium adapter and a driver guide; a CAT6 or higher Ethernet cable must be purchased separately to achieve 5 Gbps.
