Compact 360-degree speaker

The Ultimate Ears WONDERBOOM 984-000841 is a portable Bluetooth speaker built for listeners who want immersive 360-degree sound in a rugged, waterproof design. It pairs with smartphones, tablets and other devices supporting the A2DP profile for wireless audio streaming. The Fireball Red finish makes it easy to spot in a bag or by the pool.

Battery life and volume headroom

A rechargeable lithium-ion battery delivers up to 10 hours of playback between micro-USB charges, with a full recharge taking 2.8 hours. Maximum output reaches 86 dBC across a frequency range of 80 Hz to 20 kHz, driven by two 40 mm active drivers and two 46.1 mm passive radiators. Extended sessions at peak volume will reduce the available runtime below the rated figure.

Bluetooth range and pairing limits

Wireless range extends up to 33 m (100 ft) in open space, though walls and interference shorten the practical distance. The speaker stores pairing records for up to 8 Bluetooth devices but maintains an active connection with only one at a time. There is no NFC pairing, no Wi-Fi connectivity and no wired audio input, so playback depends entirely on the Bluetooth link.

Questions about this item

Will the 33 m Bluetooth range still reach my phone if I keep it in a backpack while the speaker sits by the pool?

The 33 m operating range is measured in open space; walls, water and a backpack will reduce it, but the IP67 rating means the speaker survives immersion up to 1 m for 30 minutes.

How can I confirm the 360-degree sound is active after I pair the speaker?

Walk around the speaker while music plays — sound level should stay consistent because the two 40 mm drivers and passive radiators deliver 360 Circle Sound in every direction.

Does the box include a wall charger for the micro-USB port or only the cable?

The package contains the WONDERBOOM speaker and a micro-USB cable; a USB power adapter is not included and must be supplied separately.
