Purpose and fit
The Ultratech 1800 Cable Protector is a single-channel drop-over cover designed to shield extension cords, network cables, telephone cords and general wires from vehicle traffic. It suits indoor or outdoor sites where a temporary cable run crosses a driveway, warehouse aisle or event pathway and needs protection up to a 32,000 lb axle load.
What the design changes
The ABS housing measures 39-1/2 in long, 3 in wide and 3/4 in high with a 3/4 in wide by 3/8 in high channel that accepts cables up to 3/8 in diameter. A snap-together connection style lets multiple sections join end-to-end without tools, while the black-and-yellow colour scheme keeps the cover visible in low light.
Installation and common issues
Lay the protector over the cables and press the sections together until the snaps engage; no adhesives or fasteners are required. On uneven surfaces the rigid ABS may rock, creating a trip point, and heavy rolling loads can eventually deform the channel if the cables inside exceed the stated diameter.

Questions about this item
Will the ABS material on the Ultratech 1800 protector need replacement after repeated heavy axle loads?
The ABS construction is rated for 32,000 lb per axle, so replacement depends on whether actual traffic exceeds that limit over time.
What load limit is reached first when the Ultratech 1800 protector sees continuous heavy traffic?
The 32,000 lb per axle capacity is the structural ceiling; sustained loads at or above that level will show stress before any other factor.
Does the Ultratech 1800 protector generate heat or noise when driven over all day?
As a passive ABS cable cover it produces no heat or noise of its own; only the vehicles crossing it create sound.
