Capacity and cutting limits

The 12 mm diameter suits holes of that exact size in mild steel and softer alloys. Cutting depth is limited to 1 inch, so thicker workpieces will require multiple passes or a different tool. Hardened or abrasive materials will wear the high-speed steel teeth quickly and are outside the intended range.

HSS material constraints

High-speed steel construction keeps the cost low but limits heat resistance compared to carbide alternatives. Continuous heavy feed rates or dry cutting in tough steel will dull the edges faster. The cutter performs best with proper coolant and moderate speeds on the materials specified.
