25 W 470 Ω Wirewound Resistors
These aluminium-housed wirewound resistors are rated at 470 Ω with a 5 % tolerance and a 25 W power rating. They are supplied as a pair of new components for chassis-mount installation in power circuits, doorbell systems, transducers and similar equipment.
Chassis-mount thermal limits
The aluminium housing measures 53 x 27 x 15.5 mm overall with a 3.5 mm mounting hole, allowing direct attachment to a cooling plate. Without that mechanical thermal path the 25 W rating cannot be sustained, so the installer must provide adequate metal-to-metal contact.
470 Ω resistance value
The single specification that determines fit is the 470 Ω nominal resistance; any circuit requiring a different ohmic value cannot use these parts. Builders needing other resistance values must source alternative resistors.

Questions about this item
How do I decide between the 25 W 470 Ω model and other power ratings?
Choose this 25 W 470 Ω version when your circuit needs that exact resistance and can dissipate up to 25 watts; lower-wattage parts will overheat, while higher-wattage units are larger and cost more.
What does the 25 W rating mean once the resistor is mounted in my enclosure?
The 25 W rating is achievable only when the aluminium housing is firmly screwed to a metal plate or heatsink; in free air the safe continuous power drops considerably.
How does the chassis-mount interface limit thermal performance?
Heat must flow through the 3.5 mm mounting holes into your chassis, so the thermal resistance of that joint caps the real-world power you can run continuously.
