What this cable does

This RP-SMA male-to-female extension cable uses RG174 construction with a 50 ohm impedance and a .11 inch diameter. It extends a removable antenna by 6 ft so you can position it for better signal reception on a wireless router, access point or adapter.

Who should buy it and who should not

It suits anyone with RP-SMA equipment who needs a short low-loss link to relocate an antenna. It will not help buyers who require a different connector type, a longer run than 6 ft or a cable rated for outdoor or plenum installations.

Capacity and headroom

The 50 ohm RG174 cable handles typical Wi-Fi frequencies with low loss over its 6 ft length. Signal attenuation increases beyond this distance, so runs longer than the supplied cable will need a lower-loss cable type to maintain performance.

Questions about this item

Do I need devices with removable RP-SMA antennas to use these cables?

Yes, each cable connects to equipment that has a removable RP-SMA antenna port, such as a wireless router, access point or adapter.

Will the 50 ohm impedance match my older 50 ohm Wi-Fi gear?

The cables are rated at 50 ohm, so they will match older 50 ohm wireless devices without impedance mismatch.

How can I confirm the RG174 link is working after I connect it?

Check the signal strength or link quality in your router or adapter software; a noticeable improvement over the previous antenna position shows the extension is functioning.
