SMA-J Female to BNC-KY Male Adapter

This 15 cm coaxial pigtail connects an SMA female port to a BNC-KY male plug using RG174 cable. It serves as a short antenna extension for RF devices needing that specific connector pairing. The compact length suits tight installations where a longer run would be impractical.

RG174 Cable Limits

RG174 cable has higher attenuation than thicker coaxial types, so signal loss increases noticeably with frequency and distance. The 15 cm length keeps loss low for short hops, but the cable is not suited for long runs or very high-frequency links. Users needing lower loss over distance should choose a larger diameter coax instead.

Connector Gender and Angle Decides Fit

The straight SMA-J female and flat-angle BNC-KY male ends determine whether this pigtail mates with your equipment. Verify both the connector gender and the right-angle orientation on the BNC side before purchase. A mismatched gender or straight BNC plug will not work with this adapter.

Questions about this item

Which cable length should I choose for a tight installation?

The pigtail is 15 cm (0.49 ft) long with a 2.7 mm diameter, so it fits cramped spaces without excess slack.

What signal loss should I expect from the RG174 cable at this length?

At 15 cm the RG174 run adds only a fraction of a decibel, preserving most of the antenna gain for the connected device.

Does the BNC-KY flat-angle connector limit the frequency range compared with a straight BNC?

The flat-angle BNC-KY mates with standard BNC sockets and handles the same RF bandwidth; the angle only changes the cable exit direction.
