Broadcom Emulex dual-port Fibre Channel adapter with two SFP cages and PCIe bracket

Universal

Universal LPE31002-M6 16 Gbps dual-port Fibre Channel adapter

SKU CH-2XNW-8Y2J2

A dual-port 16 Gbps Fibre Channel adapter for PCI Express connectivity

  • Dual 16 Gbps ports double storage throughput
  • PCI Express slot fits modern servers without adapters
  • Two SFP connections link separate fibre fabrics
  • Broadcom Emulex 31002 controller handles heavy I/O loads
  • Wired design keeps latency predictable under load

Broadcom Emulex dual-port 16 Gbps FC adapter

The Broadcom Emulex LPE31002-M6 is a dual-port Fibre Channel host bus adapter that connects servers to 16 Gbps storage fabrics through SFP transceivers. It installs in a standard PCI Express slot and targets IT teams building or expanding SAN infrastructure.

Passive thermal profile and low power draw

The card uses a passive heatsink with no onboard fan, so it adds no audible noise to the rack and draws minimal power from the PCI Express bus. Heat is dissipated through the bracket and PCB, keeping thermals predictable in dense chassis.

SFP cages and low-profile bracket

Two SFP cages accept short- or long-wave transceivers, letting you choose reach per link without replacing the adapter. A low-profile bracket is fitted, so the card fits 1 U and blade servers where full-height cards cannot be installed. Buyers needing more than two ports or a different interface will need another adapter.

Questions about this item

How do I install the LPE31002-M6 into a PCI Express slot, and what step is often missed?

Power down the server, open the chassis, align the card with an available PCI Express slot, press firmly until seated, then secure the bracket screw; the step often missed is attaching the SFP+ transceivers and fibre cables before powering on.

What maintenance or replacement will the dual-port 16 Gbps adapter need over time?

The SFP+ transceivers are hot-pluggable consumables; replace any module that shows rising error counts or failed link negotiation, and clean fibre end-faces with each re-seat to maintain signal integrity.

What limit appears first when the adapter runs sustained 16 Gbps traffic on both ports?

The PCI Express bus and the 16 Gbps line rate per port set the ceiling; once aggregate throughput reaches the bus capacity, latency rises and frames queue, capping further scaling.
