Direct replacement remote

The RCA 221303 universal remote replaces the original VR514, VR610HF and VR522 handsets with identical button layout and infrared operation. It controls one device and ships with functions pre-programmed so it works immediately after inserting two AAA batteries. The unit is supplied new and carries a 12 month guarantee.

Infrared single-device control

Because it uses infrared only, the remote requires line of sight to the equipment and does not penetrate walls or cabinets. Signal stability remains consistent during extended viewing sessions since there is no pairing process to drop or wireless interference to manage. Battery life scales with typical household usage patterns.

Upgrade from lost or damaged original

This model suits owners who have lost or broken the factory remote and want an exact functional match without learning codes or multi-device setup. It does not serve households needing to consolidate several remotes into one, nor setups that require radio-frequency or Bluetooth control. The jump is worthwhile when simplicity and drop-in compatibility outweigh advanced features.

Questions about this item

How much power does the infrared emitter draw when I use the remote all day?

The remote runs on two AAA batteries and uses only infrared transmission, so daily use has negligible impact on battery life.

What must I supply before the remote will control my device?

You need two AAA batteries; the remote arrives pre-programmed for the listed RCA models and works immediately after batteries are inserted.

Will this remote interfere with an older RCA component that uses the same infrared codes?

It reproduces the original remote's exact infrared commands, so it will control any compatible RCA device that responds to those codes.
