Compact Four-Pack for Handheld Radios

This set supplies four 2.5 inch dual-band whip antennas built for VHF 136-174MHz and UHF 400-470MHz operation. Each unit offers 3dBi gain with an omni-directional pattern and terminates in an SMA female connector. The pack suits operators who need spare or replacement aerials for compatible handheld transceivers.

Passive RF Components

As passive antennas they draw no power, generate no heat and produce no audible noise during transmit or receive. The soft flexible whip bends without damage, keeping the radio profile low while maintaining radiation efficiency across both amateur and marine VHF bands.

SMA Female Connector Fit

The SMA female interface is the single specification that determines compatibility; the antenna mates only with radios presenting an SMA male jack. Buyers whose handsets use a different connector type — such as BNC, K-type or proprietary multi-pin — cannot use this pack without an adapter, which is not included.

Questions about this item

How do I attach the SMA female antenna to my radio, and what step do people often miss?

Screw the SMA female connector onto the radio's male SMA port by turning the antenna body clockwise until the knurled base seats firmly; the step often missed is not tightening far enough, leaving a gap that lets moisture in and raises SWR.

What maintenance or replacement will these 2.5 inch soft whip antennas need over time?

Inspect the flexible whip for cracks or permanent bends after drops; if the SMA female threads wear loose or the radiating element fatigues, replace the individual antenna — the pack contains four spares for quick swap.

At what power level does the 3 dBi gain limit appear first during sustained transmit on VHF 136-174 MHz or UHF 400-470 MHz?

The 3 dBi omnidirectional gain handles typical handheld output up to 5 watts continuously; sustained higher power can overheat the compact 2.5 inch whip, making thermal limit the first constraint.
