Ushio 1000979 Halogen Lamp

The Ushio 1000979 is a 500 watt halogen lamp designed for fixtures that accept a BA15D bayonet base. It operates on a standard 120 volt supply and produces a warm white light at 2950K colour temperature. This bulb suits residential or commercial fittings requiring a single-ended halogen source.

10450 Lumens at 500 Watts

The decisive specification is the 10450 lumen output delivered at 500 watts, which determines whether the brightness matches the fixture design and the intended lighting level. A rated life of 2000 hours sets the expected replacement interval for maintenance planning. Buyers who need a higher lumen output or a lower wattage draw should consider a different lamp type.

Bayonet Base Installation

Installation is a simple push-and-twist action into a matching BA15D socket, requiring no tools. The single-ended construction means the bulb seats in one orientation only; forcing it can damage the base pins or the socket contacts. Handle the quartz envelope with clean gloves to avoid oil contamination that shortens the 2000 hour rated life.

Questions about this item

How bright is 10450 lumens in a typical fixture?

10450 lumens delivers very high output suitable for large-area lighting such as stages or studios; actual illumination depends on reflector design and distance.

What does the BA15D bayonet base cap in practice?

The BA15D double-contact bayonet base fits standard 120 V sockets with matching pin spacing; it limits use to fixtures designed for that base type.

What physical clearance does this halogen bulb need to fit and mount?

The single-ended halogen envelope requires a fixture that accommodates its overall length and provides ventilation for the 500 W heat output.
