Installation notes and common issues

Cartridges arrive with chips installed and slot directly into the printer. If a "Not original" message appears, press "Yes" or "Continue" to proceed. Do not register the printer for HP+ service, because HP+ printers reject compatible cartridges. Firmware updates may also block recognition after initial installation.

Compatibility checklist before ordering

Verify the exact printer model number matches the supported list above. Confirm the printer is not enrolled in HP+ or Instant Ink programmes that restrict third-party ink. Ensure the machine accepts 962 XL cartridges rather than standard 962 units, because yield and fit differ.
