LC103XL Black Twin Pack For Brother Inkjets

Two new aftermarket LC103XL black cartridges supply up to 600 pages each at five percent coverage. They fit a wide range of Brother DCP and MFC inkjet models including the 152, 245, 285, 450, 470, 475, 650, 870, 875, 4310, 4410, 4510, 4610, 4710, 6520, 6720 and 6920 series. Each cartridge carries its own chip for printer recognition.

Replacing Standard LC103 Cartridges

The XL version doubles the page yield of the standard LC103, so the upgrade pays off when you print more than occasional documents. Offices or home users who regularly exhaust a standard cartridge in a few weeks will see fewer swaps and lower cost per page. Light users who print only a handful of pages per month may not use the extra ink before it ages.

Five Percent Coverage Yield Limit

The 600-page figure assumes ISO five percent coverage, which represents light text on a mostly blank page. Dense text, graphics, photos or full-page coverage will reduce the actual page count significantly. The chip reports ink levels to the printer but cannot compensate for high-coverage jobs that consume ink faster than the rated yield.

Questions about this item

Will the LC103XL cartridge fit my Brother MFC-J650DW printer?

Yes, the LC103XL is listed as compatible with the Brother MFC-J650DW and several other models including the MFC-J475DW and MFC-J870DW.

How do I install the cartridge, and what step is often missed?

Remove the orange protective clip and yellow tape, then insert the cartridge until it clicks; the chip must contact the printer sensors or the ink level will not register.

When will I need to replace the cartridge, and what indicates it is empty?

Each cartridge yields up to 600 pages at 5% coverage; the printer will display a low-ink warning when the chip reports the cartridge is depleted.
