1" Bronze Y Strainer for Plumbing Systems

This 1 inch bronze Y strainer fits standard NPT female pipe connections and handles up to 400 psi at 100 deg F. It is intended for installers who need a compact inline filter to protect downstream valves, pumps or meters from debris in water, oil or gas lines. The Class 300 housing measures 3 3/4 in long and 3 1/8 in high, so it suits tight piping runs where a larger basket strainer would not fit.

Pressure and Temperature Limits of the NPT Interface

The female NPT threads seal with taper engagement and thread sealant, so joint integrity depends on proper tightening and compatible pipe material. The bronze body is rated for 400 psi maximum pressure at 100 deg F; pressure capacity falls as temperature rises toward the 210 deg F upper limit. The 304 stainless steel screen uses a 0.0331 in mesh opening that resists corrosion but will not stop very fine particles or dissolved solids.

Installation Notes and Common Issues

The strainer installs by threading onto 1 inch NPT male pipe ends with the blow-off port oriented downward for easy cleaning. Installers must apply suitable thread sealant and avoid over-torquing the bronze housing, which can crack the casting. The 1 inch blow-off port accepts a standard plug or valve; forgetting to close it after blow-down is the most frequent cause of leaks. Screen removal requires enough clearance to pull the basket straight out.
