Value Brand 14218 HSI Ignitor

The Value Brand 14218 is a hot surface ignition component constructed from metal and ceramic materials. It is designed for use with natural gas systems that require this specific ignition method. This part serves as a direct replacement for the 6FGV9 model, ensuring proper furnace operation.

Practical limits of HSI interface

Hot surface ignitors operate by heating a ceramic element to ignite gas, which means they require a compatible control board and voltage supply. The ceramic element is fragile and can crack from thermal shock or physical impact during handling. Natural gas systems must provide the correct gas pressure and airflow for reliable ignition. Buyers who need a different ignition type or a universal fit should verify compatibility before purchase.

Questions about this item

Is the Value Brand 14218 HSI ignitor the correct replacement for my 6FGV9 unit?

Yes, the supplier data lists this ignitor as being for use with the 6FGV9 model. It is a hot surface ignition type made of metal and ceramic for natural gas systems.

How does the hot surface ignition work once the part is installed in the appliance?

When powered, the ceramic element heats to a temperature that lights the natural gas directly, removing the need for a standing pilot flame. The metal body mounts in the burner assembly to position the element in the gas flow.
