Product Identity

The Value Brand 1A586 is a standard-duty cotton canvas tarp finished at 9 ft 6 in by 11 ft 6 in. It features double-stitched seams, brass grommets spaced 24 in apart with a .5 in inside diameter, and a 20 mil thickness rated at 10 oz per square yard.

Fit and Limitations

This tarp suits buyers needing a breathable, mildew-resistant cover for equipment, wood piles or seasonal shade where water resistance is sufficient. It is not for users who require a fully waterproof barrier, high-visibility safety colours, insulated protection or a lightweight synthetic fabric that packs down small.

Sustained Exposure Behaviour

Under continuous outdoor use the cotton canvas resists mildew growth and the brass grommets resist corrosion better than plain steel. The double-stitched seams distribute tension evenly across the 20 mil fabric, reducing tear propagation during prolonged wind loading compared with single-stitch construction.

Questions about this item

What tie-down hardware fits the brass grommets with a .5 in inside diameter?

Use rope, bungee cords, or hooks sized for a .5 in grommet opening; the brass grommets are spaced every 24 in along the edges.

Will the 9 ft 6 in x 11 ft 6 in finished size cover the same footprint as a 10 x 12 ft cut-size tarp I used before?

No, the finished dimensions are about 6 in shorter on each side than the cut size, so the coverage area is smaller.

How can I confirm the canvas is mildew resistant and water resistant after I set it up?

Water should bead on the surface rather than soak in, and the fabric should not develop mildew spots under normal damp conditions.
