400 kcmil Copper Compression Lug

This one-hole compression lug is built for terminating 400 kcmil stranded copper conductors in electrical and industrial installations. It suits panel builders and maintenance crews who need a reliable crimp connection on large-gauge wire.

Capacity and headroom

The lug accepts a single conductor size of 400 kcmil with no range above or below that figure. Its seamless copper barrel and 35 kV voltage rating provide headroom for medium-voltage applications, while the 257 Degrees F maximum operating temperature sets the thermal limit.

Build quality and daily implications

The straight tongue measures 1.41 in wide and fits a 1/2 in stud, with a blue colour code and die code 76 for tool selection. UL Listed construction and the absence of an inspection hole mean a clean crimp profile, though installers must verify crimp quality without a visual window.

Questions about this item

Will this lug fit the 400 kcmil copper cable I already have in the panel?

Yes, the lug is rated for a minimum and maximum of 400 kcmil stranded copper, so it matches that conductor size exactly.

How can I confirm the crimp is correct once I have installed the lug?

Use a die coded 76 and verify the blue colour code on the barrel; the seamless copper barrel and UL listing indicate a proper crimp when the tooling matches.

Does the package include mounting hardware for the 1/2 in stud or do I need to buy bolts separately?

The lug has a single 1/2 in stud hole with a 1.41 in tongue width; bolts, washers and nuts are not included and must be sourced separately.
