Value Brand Heavy Duty Vinyl Tarp 12 x 16 ft 20 Mil Black

Heavy Duty Vinyl Tarp 12 x 16 ft

This heavy duty vinyl tarp measures 12 by 16 feet in cut size and finishes at 11 feet 4 inches by 15 feet 6 inches. It features a 20 mil thickness and an 18 oz per square yard fabric weight for demanding coverage tasks. Brass grommets spaced every 24 inches along rope reinforced, single stitched hems provide secure tie down points. The material is waterproof, mildew resistant, tear resistant and UV resistant.

Upgrade from light duty poly tarps

Lightweight polyethylene sheets often tear in high winds and degrade quickly under sun exposure. This vinyl construction resists punctures and maintains flexibility across temperature swings where poly becomes brittle. The jump is worth it when covering equipment, firewood or vehicles for seasons rather than days. Buyers needing a breathable cover for moisture sensitive items should look elsewhere as this tarp is not breathable.

Limits of vinyl tarp construction

Seams are single stitched rather than heat welded so prolonged standing water can eventually penetrate stitch lines. Brass grommets resist corrosion but can pull out if the tarp is tensioned beyond the reinforcement capacity. The finished dimensions are smaller than the cut size so coverage area must be planned using the 11 by 15 foot finished measurements. California Proposition 65 warnings apply for chemical content.
