12 x 20 ft Standard Duty Mesh Tarp

This green polyethylene mesh tarp measures 12 by 20 feet with a 10 mil thickness. It is built for buyers who need a breathable cover that blocks debris while allowing air to pass through. The brass grommets spaced 24 inches apart give secure tie-down points. It is not for buyers who need a fully waterproof barrier or an insulated cover.

Sustained outdoor exposure behaviour

The material is mildew resistant, tear resistant and UV resistant so it holds up under long-term sun and weather. Because it is not water resistant or waterproof, rain will pass through the mesh openings during extended storms. The single-stitched seams and web-reinforced edges help prevent fraying when the tarp is left tensioned for weeks. It is not suited for containing liquids or keeping contents bone dry.

Installation notes and common issues

Brass grommets every 24 inches make it straightforward to secure with bungees or rope. The 5.8 oz per square yard fabric weight keeps the tarp light enough for one person to position. California Proposition 65 warnings apply because the product contains a chemical known to cause cancer and birth defects. Buyers who need a completely sealed enclosure or a heavier-duty rating should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

Does the 10 mil polyethylene tarp generate heat or noise when left in the sun all day?

The polyethylene material is UV resistant and contains no moving parts, so it produces no noise and does not generate heat beyond normal solar absorption.

What grommet spacing and hardware do I need to secure the 12 x 20 ft tarp?

Brass grommets are spaced every 24 inches along the reinforced edges; you supply rope, bungee cords or tie-down straps to fasten them.

Will the standard-duty fabric hold up next to an older canvas tarp I still use?

The 5.8 oz/sq yd polyethylene is mildew and tear resistant, so it performs independently of any canvas tarp you keep alongside it.
