Standard Duty Tarp 10 x 12 ft

This polyethylene tarp measures 10 by 12 feet cut size and finishes at 9 feet 6 inches by 11 feet 4 inches. It is built for general purpose coverage where a lightweight, waterproof barrier is required. The transparent material allows light to pass through while protecting items underneath.

Sustained Outdoor Exposure

Heat sealed seams and rope reinforced edges maintain integrity during extended use in wind and rain. The 5.1 mil thickness resists tearing and mildew growth over long periods. UV resistance prevents the fabric from degrading quickly under constant sunlight. Aluminum grommets spaced every 36 inches provide secure tie down points that hold firm.

Thermal And Weight Characteristics

At 3.4 ounces per square yard the tarp adds minimal load to structures or vehicles. The polyethylene construction remains flexible in cold temperatures and does not become brittle. Being non breathable it traps heat and moisture beneath the surface when sealed tight. The transparent colour reduces heat absorption compared to darker tarps.

Questions about this item

Does the 5.1 mil polyethylene tarp heat up or become noisy when left in direct sun all day?

The transparent polyethylene material absorbs some heat but has no moving parts, so it remains silent; the 5.1 mil thickness and UV-resistant coating limit degradation during extended exposure.

What extra items are needed to secure the 10 x 12 ft tarp using its aluminum grommets spaced 36 in apart?

You will need rope, bungee cords or zip ties to thread through the aluminum grommets placed every 36 in along the reinforced edges.

Will the 9 ft 6 in x 11 ft 4 in finished tarp cover an older 10 x 12 ft frame without gaps?

The finished dimensions are 9 ft 6 in by 11 ft 4 in, so the tarp is slightly smaller than a full 10 x 12 ft frame and will leave a modest border uncovered.
