Questions about this item

What does the 8-1/2 by 11 inch size mean for the sign I can display?

It holds a standard letter-size insert measuring 8-1/2 inches wide by 11 inches high, so printed pages or graphics of that exact dimension will fit behind the clear face.

How does the wall-mount style fix to the surface?

The unit includes mounting hardware for direct wall attachment; the aluminum and PVC frame secures flat against the surface with the supplied fixings.

What do the overall dimensions of 12 inches high by 8-1/2 inches wide tell me about the space it needs?

The frame extends to 12 inches in overall height and 8-1/2 inches in overall width, so allow at least that much clear wall area for the installed holder.
