Standard Duty Tarp 10 x 20 ft

This polyethylene tarp measures 10 ft by 20 ft finished size with a 10 mil thickness. It is rated for standard duty use and provides mildew, tear and UV resistance. Brass grommets are spaced every 24 in along the reinforced edges. The tan colour offers low visibility for general coverage tasks.

Sustained outdoor exposure

The single stitched seam finish and web reinforced edges help the tarp hold together under prolonged wind and sun. UV resistant polyethylene slows degradation during extended daylight exposure. Mildew resistance keeps the fabric usable in damp conditions. No waterproof rating is claimed so pooling water will eventually seep through.

Brass grommets and fabric weight

Brass grommets resist corrosion better than plain steel when left outside for weeks. At 5.8 oz/sq yd the material is light enough to handle alone yet dense enough to resist tearing at tie down points. The tarp is not breathable so condensation can form underneath. It carries a California Proposition 65 warning for chemicals known to cause cancer and reproductive harm.

Questions about this item

Does the 10 mil polyethylene tarp get noisy or hot when left in the sun all day?

The tan polyethylene material is UV resistant and mildew resistant, and the single-stitched seams with brass grommets spaced every 24 inches hold up to daily exposure without rattling or overheating.

What do I need to secure the 10 x 20 ft tarp with its 24-inch grommet spacing?

You will need rope, bungee cords or tie-down straps to thread through the brass grommets placed every 24 inches around the perimeter.

Will the standard-duty 10 mil tarp hold up next to older canvas covers I still use?

The polyethylene fabric is tear resistant and water resistant, so it performs differently from canvas but can be layered or tied alongside older covers without sticking or transferring mildew.
