Standard-duty tarp dimensions

This polyethylene tarp measures 19 ft by 19 ft 6 in finished size and has a thickness of 5.1 mil. The cut size is 20 x 20 ft and the fabric weight is 3.4 oz per square yard. It is coloured brown on one side and black on the other.

Suited for temporary covers, not long-term shelters

The standard-duty construction handles light rain, dust and mildew for short periods. Builders who need a heavy-duty or insulated cover for extended outdoor exposure should look at a heavier specification.

Easy grommet tie-down, watch heat-sealed seams

Aluminium grommets spaced every 36 in allow quick rope attachment. The heat-sealed seam finish can split if the tarp is pulled too tight over sharp edges. Ensure even tension to avoid stress concentrations.

Questions about this item

Do I need anything besides the tarp itself to secure it over a load?

The tarp has aluminum grommets spaced every 36 inches along the edges; you will need rope, bungee cords or tie-down straps that fit through those grommets.

Will the 19 ft by 19 ft 6 in finished size still cover my older 20 ft by 20 ft frame?

The finished dimensions are about six inches shorter on each side than the 20 ft cut size, so measure the frame — if it is exactly 20 ft square the tarp will leave a small gap at the edges.

How can I confirm the 5.1 mil polyethylene is performing as a waterproof, UV-resistant barrier after I set it up?

Spray water on the surface — it should bead and run off without soaking through — and after several weeks in direct sun check that the brown/black material shows no cracking or excessive fading.
