Standard-Duty Polyethylene Tarp

This white polyethylene tarp measures 15 x 20 ft cut size and finishes at 14 ft 2 in x 19 ft 6 in. It features heat-sealed seams and aluminum grommets spaced 36 in apart. The 5.1 mil thickness and 4.0 oz/sq yd fabric weight provide standard-duty protection for general covering needs.

Waterproof UV-Resistant Cover

It replaces lighter plastic sheeting that tears quickly in wind or sun. The flame-resistant, mildew-resistant and tear-resistant construction makes the upgrade worth it for seasonal outdoor storage or equipment shelter. Buyers who need a heavy-duty rating or high-visibility colors should look elsewhere.

Sustained Outdoor Exposure

Under continuous load the waterproof membrane blocks rain while the UV-resistant coating slows degradation from sunlight. The non-breathable polyethylene traps moisture underneath, so ventilation must be provided separately. Aluminum grommets resist corrosion through repeated tie-down cycles.

Questions about this item

What finished dimensions should I allow for when laying out the 15 x 20 ft tarp?

The finished size is 14 ft 2 in wide by 19 ft 6 in long, so plan for that coverage area rather than the cut size.

How do I secure the tarp using the aluminum grommets spaced every 36 inches?

Thread rope or bungee cords through each grommet and tension evenly; the common mistake is skipping grommets, which creates stress points and tears.

When will the polyethylene material need replacement due to UV exposure?

The UV‑resistant coating extends life, but standard‑duty 5.1 mil poly typically lasts one to two seasons in full sun before becoming brittle.
