Ryzen 5 5600X desktop

The Velztorm Nix is a white gaming desktop built around a 6-core AMD Ryzen 5 5600X processor clocked at 3.70 GHz with a 4.6 GHz boost. It ships with 32GB of DDR4 memory and a 512GB SATA SSD, driven by a 750W power supply and cooled by an air CPU cooler. Windows 10 Home comes pre-installed.

1080p entry gaming

This system suits players targeting 1080p resolution with the GTX 1050Ti and 4GB of GDDR5 memory. Buyers who need higher frame rates at 1440p or 4K, or who want hardware-accelerated ray tracing, should look at a more powerful graphics card. The lack of built-in Wi-Fi or Bluetooth also means wireless connectivity requires separate adapters.

SATA SSD storage

The 512GB SATA SSD provides solid-state boot and application speeds within the SATA interface limits. Users planning large game libraries or frequent multi-hundred-gigabyte transfers will need to add secondary drives for extra capacity.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 512GB SATA SSD or add a larger drive for games?

The 512GB SATA SSD holds the OS and a few titles; large libraries will need a second drive because only one SATA SSD is included.

What does the Ryzen 5 5600X 4.6 GHz boost mean for daily use?

The 6-core processor reaches 4.6 GHz on light loads, giving snappy Windows 10 Home responsiveness and solid 1080p frame rates in lighter games.

Does the GTX 1050Ti PCIe 3.0 x16 slot limit future GPU upgrades?

The card runs on PCIe 3.0 x16; newer GPUs will work but may lose a small percentage of bandwidth compared with a PCIe 4.0 platform.
