The Venus Laowa 15mm f/2 FE Zero-D is a rectilinear ultra-wide prime lens designed for full-frame Nikon Z mount cameras. It delivers a 110° angle of view and a fast f/2 maximum aperture, making it suitable for landscape, architecture and astrophotography. The optical construction uses 12 elements in 9 groups including two aspherical and three extra-low dispersion elements to minimise distortion and chromatic aberration. At approximately 500g and 62mm long, it remains compact for everyday carry.

Simple Native Mount Installation

The lens mounts directly to the Nikon Z bayonet without adapters, so attachment is as straightforward as aligning the index marks and twisting until it locks. A 72mm filter thread accepts screw-in filters for landscape work, and the bundle includes a ProOptic 72mm filter kit, cleaning kit, software kit and lens cap tether. The only common issue is vignetting when stacking thick filters on such a wide field of view; slim-profile filters avoid this.

Verify Mount and Sensor Coverage

Confirm your camera uses the Nikon Z mount and that you want full-frame 35mm coverage, because the lens is designed for that format and also works on APS-C Z bodies with a narrower field of view. The f/2 aperture supports low-light and astro shooting, but there is no electronic aperture linkage, so exposure control is manual or via camera body stop-down metering. Buyers who need autofocus or electronic EXIF data should look elsewhere, as this is a fully manual focus lens.
