Ultra-wide shift lens for GFX

The Venus Optics Laowa 15mm f/4.5R Zero-D Shift lens is built for Fujifilm GFX medium-format cameras. It delivers a 110° angle of view and a 65mm image circle with 17 elements in 11 groups, including two aspherical and three ED elements. Architects and interior photographers gain precise perspective control through +/- 8mm shift movement.

Shift upgrade with 14-blade aperture

This model replaces the earlier five-blade design with a 14-blade diaphragm that produces a 14-point sunstar and round, smooth bokeh from f/4.5 to f/22. The wider blade count softens flare rays around strong light sources such as windows, a noticeable improvement for night cityscapes and high-contrast interiors.

Check mount and coverage needs

Verify that your GFX body accepts the native mount and that your workflow can use the 65mm image circle. The lens is manual focus with no electronic contacts, so exposure metering and EXIF data depend on the camera’s stop-down mode. Buyers needing autofocus or a faster maximum aperture should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

What shift range does the Laowa 15mm f/4.5R provide on a Fujifilm GFX body?

The lens delivers up to +/- 8mm of shift on medium format, letting you correct converging verticals without tilting the camera.

How is the aperture ring operated and where do users sometimes go wrong?

The aperture is set manually on the lens barrel from f/4.5 to f/22; a common slip is leaving the camera in an auto-exposure mode that expects electronic aperture communication.

What regular care does the 17-element optical formula need?

Clean the front and rear elements with a blower and microfibre cloth; the 14-blade diaphragm is internal and requires no user lubrication or adjustment.
