Ultra-wide tilt-shift lens for Hasselblad XCD, matte black barrel with shift and tilt controls

Venus Optics

Venus Optics Laowa 17mm f/4 Zero-D Tilt-Shift Lens for Hasselblad XCD

SKU CH-5EZV-54QCV

Ultra-wide 17mm tilt-shift lens with ±10° tilt, ±8mm shift, 360° rotation and 104° view for Hasselblad XCD medium format

  • Ultra-wide 104° view captures expansive scenes with 17mm focal length
  • Zero-D optical design eliminates barrel distortion for perfectly straight lines
  • +/-8mm shift corrects converging verticals in architectural photography
  • +/-10° tilt controls focal plane for selective sharpness effects
  • 360° mount rotation allows independent tilt and shift axis adjustment

Perspective Control for Medium Format

The Venus Optics Laowa 17mm f/4 Zero-D Tilt-Shift lens is built for Hasselblad XCD photographers who need precise perspective correction. Its 17mm focal length and 104-degree angle of view suit architectural, landscape and interior work where converging verticals must be fixed in-camera.

Optical Performance and Distortion Control

Laowa's Zero-D optical design targets virtually zero barrel distortion across the frame, delivering consistent sharpness for technical imaging. A 25cm minimum focusing distance allows close-up detail work while maintaining the wide field of view.

Mechanical Flexibility and Mounting

The lens provides +/-10 degree tilt and +/-8mm shift movements with independent 360-degree mount rotation for axis alignment. This mechanical range lets users adjust the focal plane and composition without repositioning the camera body.

Questions about this item

How do I mount this lens and set the shift axis correctly?

Attach the lens to the Hasselblad XCD mount then use the 360-degree rotation ring to align the shift direction before locking it in place.

What mechanical parts may need attention after heavy use?

The tilt and shift mechanisms rely on precision gears and rails; periodic cleaning and re-greasing keep the +/-10 degree tilt and +/-8mm shift movements smooth.

At what distance does close-focus performance become the limiting factor?

The minimum focusing distance is 25cm, so subjects closer than that cannot be rendered sharply regardless of tilt or shift settings.
