  • 45 mm working distance at 2.5x gives room for lighting

  • 8 elements in 6 groups with extra-low dispersion glass for corner-to-corner sharpness
  • Compact lightweight barrel makes handheld macro work easier

Ultra-Macro 2.5-5X Lens

The Venus Optics Laowa 25mm f/2.8 2.5-5X Ultra Macro lens is built for Canon RF cameras. It covers magnifications from 2.5X to 5X life size, a range most general macro lenses do not reach. The optical formula uses eight elements in six groups, including an extra low dispersion element, to deliver corner-to-corner sharpness at high magnification. Its compact barrel keeps the kit light for field work.

Macro specialists needing high magnification

Photographers who shoot insects, textures or small product details at greater than life size will benefit from the extended working distance of 45mm at 2.5X and 40mm at 5X. That space helps with lighting and avoids disturbing live subjects. Shooters who mainly work at 1X or lower magnification, or who need autofocus and image stabilisation, should consider a standard macro lens instead.

Canon RF mount only

This version fits Canon RF mirrorless bodies directly. It has no electrical contacts, so aperture and focus are fully manual. Buyers using EF, Z, E, L or other mounts cannot attach this lens without a separate adapter, and even then electronic functions will remain unavailable.
