A 65mm APS-C macro lens reaching 2x magnification at 17cm focus distance with 14 elements in 10 groups and a nine-blade f/2.8 aperture
The Venus Optics Laowa 65mm f/2.8 2X Ultra Macro APO is a prime lens built for APS-C mirrorless bodies. It reaches a 2:1 magnification ratio with a minimum focus distance of 6.7 inches, letting photographers capture tiny subjects at twice life-size. The 65mm focal length gives a 97.5mm equivalent field of view, useful for both close-ups and environmental shots.
This lens uses a purely mechanical design with no electronic contacts, so focus and aperture are adjusted by hand. The focus ring travels from infinity down to 2X magnification in a single throw, while the 9-blade diaphragm stops down from f/2.8 via a clickless aperture ring. Exposure metering relies on the camera body reading light through the stopped-down aperture.
No other macro lens for this mount currently offers a 2:1 reproduction ratio without accessories. If your work requires recording subjects at twice their actual size on the sensor, this optic meets that need directly. Buyers who only need 1:1 magnification will find less specialised alternatives that provide autofocus and electronic EXIF data.

The lens reaches 2x life-size magnification, letting you capture subjects at twice their actual size on the APS-C sensor with a minimum focus distance of 6.7 inches.
On APS-C the 65mm gives a 97.5mm equivalent field of view, providing comfortable working distance for insects, flowers or portrait sessions without crowding the subject.
The lens uses a manual aperture ring at f/2.8 with a 9-blade diaphragm; the X mount transmits EXIF data but does not drive autofocus or electronic aperture, so exposure is set by hand.
