Cinematic Macro for Fujifilm X

The Venus Optics Laowa 65mm T2.9 is a dedicated cine lens built for Fujifilm X-mount cameras covering the Super35 format. It targets filmmakers and macro photographers who require precise manual control and high magnification for detailed close-up work. The apochromatic optical design aims to deliver professional image quality straight from the lens.

2x Magnification with APO Correction

The defining specification is the 2x maximum magnification ratio, allowing subjects to be projected onto the sensor at twice life-size. This is supported by an apochromatic design incorporating three extra-low dispersion elements to minimise chromatic aberration. A 24.4-degree angle of view on Super35 sensors frames the subject tightly for immersive macro capture.

Manual Focus Cine Workflow

The lens operates entirely via manual focus and manual aperture rings geared for follow-focus accessories, integrating directly into standard cinema rigs. It covers the Super35 image circle without vignetting on compatible Fujifilm X bodies. Shooters needing autofocus, electronic aperture control, or full-frame coverage should look elsewhere.

What does the T2.9 aperture actually control on this cine lens?

T2.9 is a calibrated transmission value that guarantees consistent exposure across takes and lenses.

Will the lens mount directly on my Fujifilm X body without an adapter?

The lens is built for the Fujifilm X mount, so it attaches natively to any X-series camera.
