Lens Identity & Intended Users

The Venus Optics Laowa Argus 45mm f/0.95 is a manual-focus prime lens built for the Nikon Z mount. Its ultra-fast maximum aperture suits photographers who need extreme low-light capability and very shallow depth of field for creative subject isolation.

Capacity & Optical Headroom

The optical design uses 13 elements in 9 groups, including one aspherical, one ED and three UHR glass elements to deliver sharp, high-contrast results even wide open. A 15-blade aperture produces smooth bokeh, while the minimum focus distance of 19.7 inches allows close-up work.

Mount & Handling Limits

The lens accepts 72mm threaded filters and features a 300-degree focus throw with deeply grooved rings for precise manual control. Autofocus is not available, so users requiring automatic focusing or electronic aperture communication will need a different solution.

Questions about this item

Will the 72 mm filter threads on this 45 mm f/0.95 lens accept the same circular polariser I use on my older Z-mount primes?

Yes, the lens takes standard 72 mm threaded filters, so any 72 mm CPL or ND you already own will screw straight on.

How can I confirm the 15-blade aperture is stopping down correctly after I mount the lens on my Z body?

Stop the aperture ring down one click at a time while watching the EVF or rear LCD; the iris should close smoothly through all 15 blades with no oil on the blades.

Does the box include a 72 mm filter or lens hood, or do I need to buy those separately?

The supplied items are the lens, front and rear caps, and a pouch; a 72 mm filter and the dedicated metal hood are sold separately.
